I’ve spent my career fighting on behalf of the most vulnerable – kids and seniors without health care or facing abuse. I also believe it is important to give back and volunteer. I’ve spent more than 20 years advocating for public education as a PTA member and a volunteer mentor and tutor to students in need. I currently chair the Board of Directors of the Northern California Construction Training program, which provides technical and vocational pre-apprenticeships training and job placement for youth and adults across the region. The organization works in public schools and in juvenile halls providing critical practical training and skills for jobs after graduation.

In my day job, I serve as a Deputy Attorney General focusing on fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars. I know how to ask the right questions and get answers. And that’s critical right now, when our schools are facing so much uncertainty. But with my fight comes an equal measure of collaboration - I know how to bring people together to reach consensus. And I’m not afraid to be the only person in the room to speak up. Because when I have taken that stand, the community follows and real, lasting change happens.
