About the candidate
A strong supporter of public schools and quality educational opportunities, Anna Molander Hermann has spent nearly two decades advocating for students and families. Guided by her belief that great schools build great communities, Anna is running to serve as a trustee on the Sacramento County Office of Education.
As the mother of three children enrolled in Sacramento public schools, Anna has been deeply involved in her school community. She served as an active member of the PTA for more than a decade and also volunteered as a mentor, supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom. Anna helped new readers at several local schools, introduced computers to kinders, and served as a “lunch buddy” for at-risk sixth grade girls. Over the last several years, she has helped families form PTAs at school sites across Sacramento County.
Anna’s commitment to education extends well beyond K-12. She currently chairs a successful nonprofit that provides technical and vocational pre-apprenticeships programs for youth and adults across the region. This organization has helped tens of thousands of people gain meaningful employment in high paying, quality careers, including providing proven pathways for formerly incarcerated individuals and helping to prevent prison recidivism.
In her professional career, Anna serves as a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, where she provides critical oversight of California’s health care system and nursing homes and investigates fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
Anna has also served for three years on the City of Sacramento’s Planning and Design Commission, helping to bring a neighborhood voice and perspective to the city’s development decisions.
Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra, helping to promote the arts to the greater community, including local schools.
Anna lives in Land Park with her husband Kai, where they raise their three children.
